The new categories for 2018 are below, with this year's shortlist. The winners were announced at a special awards ceremony on Monday 22 October in The Banqueting Hall, Glasgow City Chambers.

Best Rescue of an Historic Building or Place For projects under £2m
This award recognises volunteers and professionals, individuals and groups who have rescued a historic building, place, landscape or site.

Best Major Regeneration of an Historic Building or Place For projects in excess of £2m
This award recognises projects that have seen large scale investment, probably in excess of £2 million pounds, put into saving, rescuing or regenerating a building or place.

Best Contribution to a Heritage Project by Young People
This award recognises the contribution to heritage projects by young people up to and including the age of 25.

Best Craftsperson or Apprentice on a Heritage Rescue or Repair Project
This award recognises a volunteer, professional individual or apprentice who has demonstrated the application of craft skills that have been key in repairing or rescuing a historic site.

Best Heritage Research, Interpretation or Recording
This award recognises volunteers and professionals, individuals and groups who rescue, record or interpret any kind of historic place.
